Automated PowerShift2 transmission now with inclination sensor
With the Actros 2012 line, Mercedes-Benz launches in Brazil the PowerShift2, new automated G-330 12-speed transmission management with no clutch pedal. In addition to making the speed selection more precise and the clutching faster, the new transmission now comes with road inclination sensor, which helps the system select the most adequate way to drive the truck according to the road condition.
Mercedes-Benz is the only manufacturer in the market to offer the fully automated transmission as a serial item for all trucks in the Actros line, both highway and off-road trucks.
Bluetooth makes safe for the driver to use the mobile phone
As of the 2012 line, the intercity Actros will be equipped with one more convenience and modern item as a serial feature: radio and CD player with Bluetooth technology. This way, the driver can use his mobile phone safely and conveniently, using the multifunctional buttons at the steering wheel.
Air suspension is a differential on the intercity Actros
The robust and exclusive air suspension set on the intercity Actros, with 4 bellows per axle, offers excellent stability, resistance to oscillation, directional precision and comfort.
Aiming at serving clients who operate in severe conditions, such as unpaved roads or in poor conditions, Mercedes-Benz offers, for Actros 2646 6x4, the option of metallic suspension and drum brakes.
Exclusive MegaSpace cab with fully leveled floor
The highway Actros has established in the Brazilian market a new standard in comfort with the MegaSpace cab, which stands out for its air suspension and high levels of ergonomics and functionality. With fully leveled floor, 1.92 m of internal height and 2.26 m of width, the spacious cab offers a remarkable freedom of movement and total comfort for the driver in all circumstances, whether as a workstation, living room or dormitory.
The well-being on board is increased by the air conditioning system and by the exclusive night climate controller in the MegaSpace cab, which works with the engine turned off, making it ideal when stopping to rest or in waiting lines.
The Actros cabs also stand out for their bold design and modern style. Externally, the external rearview mirrors get one’s attention with the chrome-plated cover, two-part sunblind, fog lights and the lighted Mercedes-Benz star.
Actros is ideal for highly professionalized clients
The Actros trucks are especially indicated for large fleet owners and transport companies that value high technology and acknowledge the importance of comfort and safety as allies in the increase of productivity in transportation.
This truck line adheres to the high power range in the heavy truck segment. The tractor trucks Actros 2546 6x2 and 2646 6x4, indicated for intercity load transportation, are equipped with 456 HP engine. On its turn, the strength of the tilting truck Actros 4844 8x4 on harsh off-road applications comes from the 435 HP engine.
Indicated for long-distance intercity transportation, the tractor trucks Actros 2546 6x2 and 2646 6x4 allow to use several semi-tows, such as open dry load, delivery van, sider, bulk carriers, liquid and gas tanks, container holder, among others. They are also used for driving multi-compositions, such as b-train, large b-train and road train.
The tilting truck Actros 4844 K 8x4 from Mercedes-Benz is indicated for severe off-road operations, such as in mining, heavy construction and major infrastructure works.
Intercity Actros is a benchmark in safety
The Safety Package for the Actros line highway trucks are a benchmark in the market. It includes exclusive items, such as lane guidance system, proximity control system, active braking assistance, retarder and electronic brake with ABS and ASR.
Additionally, the intercity Actros is also equipped with exclusive engine braking Top Brake as a serial item, movement block for startup on ramps, and disk brakes in all wheels.
The high safety standard of Actros includes three-point safety belts. To make the truck driver life easier, the cab offers electric windows on both doors, reverse gear alarm, electronic immobilizer, wide rearview mirrors and ramp mirrors. Additionally, it is equipped with rain sensor and automatic headlight activation.
The onboard computer includes consumption and maintenance indicators, as well as the “Econometer”, an indicator of the cost-saving truck driving range.
Off-road Actros 4844 8x4 stands out for robustness and productivity
With a solid and consolidated image of robustness and productivity in the Brazilian market – where it is present since 2008, establishing a new reference in the market –, Actros 4844 K 8x4 has capacity for 48.000 kg of GVW and 123.000 kg of maximum drive capacity – MDC. Its liquid load capacity achieves about 37.000 kg, depending on the implement’s weight, which allows using beds with up to 20 cubic meters of capacity.
The suspension set is extremely robust, with front springs for 9.000 kg in each axle and with reinforced spring in the rear for 16.000 kg per axle. This results in a spring set for 50.000 kg, an over-dimensioned capacity for the application of this truck, which operates with clearance even in extreme load conditions.
The suspension has parabolic leaf springs on the front and rear, telescopic double-acting shock absorbers and stabilizer bars. The truck also has reduction in hubs and transversal and longitudinal blocks for the rear differentials. This enables the vehicle to always have uniform drive in all rear wheels, even in conditions unfavorable to drive.
As of the 2012 line, the Actros 4844 K 8x4 will be equipped with fully automated PowerShift2 transmission, with no clutch pedal, with makes driving much easier and more comfortable. Mercedes-Benz is the only manufacturer to offer this type of transmission as series equipment to off-road trucks.
This off-road model from the Actros line also has double clutch, driving system with double-circuit hydraulic assistance, Top Brake, electronic brake with ABS and ASR, retarder, movement blocking for startup on ramps and automatic load compensation system for front axles.
The off-road Actros 4844 8x4 is equipped with air conditioning as a serial item, which ensures more comfort and well-being on board. This is a crucial advantage for a vehicle that operates in severe conditions, characterized by dusty roads and high temperatures.
Another new feature in the 2012 line is the wheel base of 4.500 mm, now 300 mm wider, which ensures the use of a 400-liter fuel tank and allows installing a lower bed. This contributes to better vehicle stability.
Actros trucks come prepared for FleetBoard
The heavy intercity Actros trucks leave the factory prepared for installation of the FleetBoard fleet management system from Mercedes-Benz. Among several benefits, this tool offers reduction of up to 10% in fuel consumption. It also enables to analyze the driver’s behavior on wheel, providing data that help him achieve cost-saving, preventive driving with better performance.
In off-road models, the FleetBoard is a series equipment; all that is only necessary to hire the service activation with Mercedes-Benz.
The FleetBoard offers more advantages to fleet managers, such as remote fault diagnosis and preventive maintenance, helping reduce maintenance costs. The access to fleet data and information is extremely simple – all that is necessary are a computer with Internet access, the FleetBoard equipment on the vehicle and hiring the services.
